In bar talk, the terms cocktail smoke gun, aromatic gun and aroma gun often refer to the same type of device. With the Flavour Blaster, it’s a gun that turns a compatible liquid aroma formulation into a visible, scented vapour.

Cocktail Smoke Gun: How Aromas, Bubbles and Clouds Work
What the guest experiences
A well-matched aroma, a quick gesture and a visual effect that sets up the first sip.
What the team controls
Compatible equipment, flow rate, effect size and how the drink is handed to the guest.

- The tank holds a compatible liquid aroma.
- The device creates an aromatic vapour, sometimes called “smoke” because of the way it looks.
- This vapour can be released under a cloche, into a bubble or directly around a cocktail.
How does the gun transform the aroma?
The aroma goes into a dedicated tank. When the gun is activated, it produces a stream of scented vapour. The aim is not to change the drink significantly: the aroma works on the nose first, just before the first sip. Using one tank per aroma makes quick changes easier and avoids mixing profiles.
Cloud, bubble or cloche: three different presentations
| Effect | Equipment | Result when served |
|---|---|---|
| Aromatic cloud | Suitable nozzle or Cloud Nozzle on a compatible model | A dense vapour around the glass or plate |
| Aromatic bubble | Bubble X liquid and forming bowl | A bubble resting on the glass that the guest can pop |
| Cloche service | Cloche or presentation accessory | The aroma is held in, then released in front of the guest |
Choosing an aroma that suits the recipe
The aroma should extend an ingredient or create a deliberate contrast: citrus on a Spritz, rosemary on a gin and tonic, coffee or chocolate on an indulgent recipe, aromatic smoke on a cocktail made with dark spirits. The effect looks far more professional when the nose genuinely announces what the palate is about to taste.
Pro 2 vs Mini 2: the real differences
The Pro 2.5 takes interchangeable effects and accessories and is designed for versatile professional service. The official kit states up to around 1,000 serves included and up to eight hours of battery life, depending on use. The Mini 2 is more compact, designed for a single aroma and simple bubbles; its kit states up to around 500 serves. It is not designed to take the Pro’s additional nozzles.
Mistakes that weaken the effect
- Using a liquid that is not designed for the device.
- Switching aromas without a dedicated tank.
- Forming a bubble that is too big, or forming it too quickly.
- Choosing an aroma unrelated to the recipe.
