Edible glitter for champagne can turn a coupe into a point of light, as long as you respect what makes the drink special: its bubbles, its clarity and its delicate serve. The effect must come from a tiny dose and a gentle movement, never from vigorous mixing.

“I travel the world to find effects that make a drink truly memorable. With glitter, the golden rule is also the simplest: use very little, maximise contrast and keep a steady hand.”

EDIBLE GLITTER & MIXOLOGY

Make the light dance without flattening the bubbles

In a sparkling drink, a light touch matters more than the amount of glitter.

The champagne

A pale colour, fine bubbles and a serve where the clarity must stay visible.

The finish

A contrasting shade, added sparingly, then brought to life with a very gentle swirl.

The method for a flawless coupe
  • Choose a flavourless edible glitter so the drink’s profile stays unchanged.
  • Start with the smallest amount and pour gradually.
  • Never shake: let the bubbles and a light swirl create the movement.

Choosing the colour to suit the cuvée

In a very pale champagne or sparkling wine, gold, rose gold and silver are the most natural choices. Gold adds warmth, silver a frosted effect and rose gold a softer touch. On a rosé, classic gold or silver offer more contrast than tone-on-tone pink.

The colour of the room and the tablecloths affects the result. Silver glitter can disappear under very warm lighting; gold can blend into a beige background. Run a test in the coupe you plan to use, in the spot where guests will be served.

Getting the dose right without overflowing

Prepare a tiny measure with a dry utensil. Depending on the product and the method you choose, add the glitter to the coupe and then pour slowly, or finish with a small amount before swirling the glass. Watch the foam and adjust your pouring speed; never pour everything in one go.

For several dozen coupes, standardise the technique on a test glass. The dose must be identical, but the pour may need adjusting if the coupes are not all at the same temperature. Keep the container closed between batches.

Serving at a wedding or reception

A glittering coupe works particularly well for a toast, the arrival of dessert or a photo moment. Prepare the glasses, the measures and the pouring area, but revive the effect as close to serving as possible. A coupe left waiting for a long time loses its movement.

Brief the waiting staff with a simple demonstration: carry steadily, give a light swirl before handing over and never shake roughly. Guests can then gently swirl their own glass. This interaction makes the effect last longer without needing more product.

Alcohol-free alternatives

The same presentation works with an alcohol-free sparkling wine, a clear lemonade or a mocktail made with grape and citrus. Contrast and dosage are tested in the same way. A less fizzy drink will simply need swirling a little more often.

Keep the glassware identical so that guests who choose alcohol-free are not singled out visually. A shared colour creates consistency across the tables and lets you use the glitter as part of the event’s decoration.

Frequently asked questions

Does glitter make the bubbles disappear?

The main risk comes from mixing too vigorously. Use a small amount and pour gently to preserve the fizz.

Which colour should you choose for a rosé champagne?

Gold or silver offer a crisp contrast; rose gold gives a more tone-on-tone, romantic result.

Can you prepare the coupes an hour in advance?

It is better to finish or revive the effect just before serving, to keep the movement and the quality of the bubbles.
